Power Behind PowerInbox: Bernadette Kenneally

To continue our new series that gives you an in(box)side look at the employees who drive the power in PowerInbox, we’d like to introduce you to PowerInbox Data Engineer Bernadette!

Power Behind PowerInbox: Bernadette Keanneally

She’s been with us for the last two years and currently lives in Golden, Colorado. Although she grew up in upstate New York and London, she first arrived to Colorado 15 years ago for university and never left.

Here’s a little more about her!

1. What are the top 5 tools you can’t live without?

2. What is your favorite aspect of working remotely?

Not having to change out of my pajamas if I don’t want to! And being able to spend the day with my dogs.

3. What are some of your hobbies?

I love skiing, Formula 1 (I’m a huge Ferrari fan), hiking & exploring with the dogs, and going to shows at Red Rocks. I also have recently taken up golf.

4. What is your favorite quote & why?

The theory of quantum electrodynamics describes Nature as absurd from the point of view of common sense. And it agrees fully with experiment. So I hope you accept Nature as She is — absurd.”

Richard P. Feynman, QED: The Strange Theory of Light & Matter

I love the above quote because it’s true; nature and everyday life are, in fact, absurd. By accepting this, you can see the humor and the beauty of the absurdity rather than expecting people or nature to behave otherwise and always being disappointed or frustrated.

“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself — and you are the easiest person to fool.“

Richard P. Feynman

This quote reminds us to always question, investigate other solutions, and always start from a place that assumes you are wrong and then disprove this.

5. What is the best place you’ve ever traveled to?

It’s too hard to pick, but some of my top favorites are Barcelona, Santiago, Mendoza, and Essaouria.

6. What is your biggest guilty pleasure & why?

I’m really into super redneck country music and hardcore gangsta rap. As a white girl who grew up in London and went to school on the Upper East Side of NYC, I am far from gangsta or country, but I love making playlists that include both and love the contrast of NWA followed by David Allan Coe (as an example).

7. What is a pet peeve of yours that no one knows about?

Being called “Bernie,” and people not muting their microphones on calls when eating/breathing heavily/typing loudly.

8. What’s at the top of your bucket list?

Singapore & Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

9. At which store would you like to max out your credit card & why?

At the Ferrari or McLaren dealerships (although I don’t have a high enough credit limit to get anything, a lady can dream…)

10. What’s the first thing you bought with your own money?

In 4th Grade, I bought Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill CD!

Stay tuned for our next employee feature! And in the meantime, if you missed our last employee Q&A, you can find it here!
